We Have No Sufficient Electricity To Give Nigerians- Fashola

Nigeria’s Minister of Power Works and Housing, Mr Babatunde Fashola, says there is currently not enough power to distribute unless more turbines are switched on. He attributed recent power outages in some parts of the country to four turbines which stopped working, but hoped electricity supply would be stabilized soon as three of the four turbines have been restored. The Minister also expressed hope that President Muhammadu Buhari’s 10,000 megawatts target would be met. He, however, decried acts of vandalism which he says is causing some of the energy problems in the country.

Power Generation Crumbles To 0MW For Hours

Nigeria’s power generation collapsed completely on Thursday at exactly 12.58pm to zero megawatt and this persisted for about three hours. Data from the country’s System Operator showed that around 1pm on Thursday, no power generation company in Nigeria produced a single megawatt of electricity. Industry operators told our correspondent that as a result of the complete collapse, no electricity distribution company received load allocation beginning from when the collapse was recorded up till around 3pm. The SO stated that the 11 distribution companies got zero electricity load allocation during the period of the collapse, meaning that for about three hours on Thursday no part of Nigeria got power supply from the national grid. Our correspondent, however, gathered that supply of electricity was restored around 3pm. For instance, out of the 450MW that was due Abuja Electricity Distribution Company, the Disco only got about 50MW when the situation began to improve. Before the collaps

IPOB : Kanu Not Begging For Freedom. Thisday

The Independent People of Biafra (IPOB) Thursday clarified what it considered a misinterpretation of the petition that its detained leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu sent to the British government over his travails in the hands of Nigerian government. Head of IPOB media and publicity, Comrade Emma Powerful, cleared the air in a telephone chat with our correspondent, saying that Kanu “is not begging to be released” even though his freedom has been circumscribed since October 14, 2015. He said that it was necessary for IPOB to make it known to the whole world that Kanu only wrote to the British authorities as a bona fide citizen to formally notify them of his “persecution” in the hands of the Nigerian government. Powerful explained that since Kanu is a British citizen the authorities of that nation is under obligation to take action to protect its citizen who is in trouble hence it was wrong for Kanu’s petition to be misconstrued as pleading to be freed from detention. In the petition dated M

Foreign Tabloids Mock Nigerian Movie "Spider Girl' In Hilarious Movie Review

This is what you get when you produce a Hollywood movie on a Nollywood budget. When i first saw the poster i thought it was a joke, not until I stumbled on this movie review by some foreign tabloids. While reading the review, i was stuck between cringing and laughing...I opted for laughter and i haven't stopped since Read the rib cracking review below: Comic fans around the world are waiting with bated breathe to see what Tom Holland’s performance as Spider-Man is going to be like – but the poor guy may have been outshone before he’s even webbed up his first bad guy. Meet 'Spider-Girl', a gender bent, copyright infringing adaptation of everyone’s favourite wall-crawler straight from Nigeria’s version of Hollywood, Nollywood. As I’m sure you can tell from the trailer Spider-Girl's more than capable of going up against Marvel’s heavy hitters, swinging (or flying, it’s hard to tell) through the jungle and battling criminals with her magical ability to produce cartoon s

Why Blogging Beats Advertising!

This is a sponsored post. Read below... Do you know that over 70% of customers learn about products, and companies from blog articles, and not from direct advertisement? Here's why! Many people have learned to naturally ignore adverts. If you want to get the attention of people who are likely prospects for your business, there is a better way to engage them and get their patronage. That way in recent time is via a blogging platform. The reason is, people are moved to read or watch an online video from a blog which solves a problem that they have. If you want to advertise to people and really get their attention and patronage, then you need to learn how to write valuable articles that are focused on solving people's problems. When someone who has a problem sees an article that promises a solution to his problem, he pays attention and reads every word. Here are some examples... * A Diabetic patient pays attention to articles that will help him lower his blood sugar. * A

Joke Of The Day!

I was sitting in my car on a very long queue from the Mobil petrol station in Maryland. This queue was almost getting to Anthony bus stop (a stretch of almost 3 miles!) It was one of those days when fuel was scarce. Suddenly, a guy ran past my car with a Jerry can in one hand shouting, "They have started o!" in Yoruba. I quickly jumped out of my car, opened my booth, got my Jerry can and ran after him. He kept running towards Maryland. When he got to the petrol station, he shouted again, "Won ti bere ooo!" This in Yoruba means, "They have started o!" He ran past the petrol station and headed towards Sheraton hotel. Anyone who knows these places I'm mentioning will understand how quite afar they are. I tried to run faster to catch up and ask the boy what have they started, but the boy ran faster. I looked back and I saw like 6 people had joined us running with Jerry cans in their palms. We continue past Sheraton and headed towards Ikeja bus stop

First male contraceptive injection shown to be effective at blocking sperm

According to a scientific research, a lot of women all over the world have dreamed and hoped for some type of male contraception apart from condoms and vasectomy. The burden of taking contraceptive pills or having devices implanted has been what a lot of women have been doing to avoid unwanted/unplanned pregnancies. Now, scientists have revealed that the first male contraceptive injection could soon be available. The shot, called Vasalgel, is non-hormonal and long-acting , potentially reversible and has been shown to block sperm for up to 1 year. According to the non-profit Parsemus Foundation, of Berkeley, California, clinical testing of the shot will begin some time this year. According to the research done, a lot of men said they were willing to try a new form of contraception that is reversible unlike vasectomy. But in a new study, Parsemeus confirmed that Vasalgel has the potential to fill the gap in the male contraception market. The shot consists of styrene-alt-maleic acid

House of Reps explain why they haven't forwarded details of the 2016 budget to Buhari

The House of Representatives has issued a statement explaining why they have not forwarded the details of the 2016 budget to President Buhari, an action that has prevented Buhari to sign the budget into law.Thechairman House Committee on Appropriations, Abdulmumin Jibrin‎, in the statement released today, said the practice of witholding the budget for a few days or weeksby the National Assembly has always been there and that due to the fact that the "padded" budget was presented to them late, they need time to scrutinize the details. The statement in part reads “The general public should note that the MTEF and 2016 budget proposal came to NASS very late. You will also recall that a lot of dust was raised over different versions of the budget circulated in the national assembly. Further, some ministers disowned the content of the budget during defence before NASS. Amid these inconsistencies and discrepancies, the NASS had been deeply engrossed in perfecting the anomalies, i

Why You Should Not Use Google Adsense On Your Blog

Let’s face it, a larger percentage of bloggers are into it for the money, while many bloggers would instantly deny this fact, it still doesn’t change the fact that earning few cents while doing what you supposedly “like” won’t hurt in anyway. For over five years, I have been online, I started by monetizing my content on hubpages with Google AdSense, I gained insight into various means of making money online, and I can unequivocally (big word eh?) tell you that; as at the time of writing this, AdSense is one of the poorest way of monetizing your website. Don’t get me wrong, I make money from AdSense through various niche sites and it’s as good as it could be; to make money from few passive blogs. But for a new blog or established authority site with numerous valuable contents and growing audience; the greatest mistake a blogger can make is to rely on AdSense for monetization. A friend of mine run a food blog where she shares various recipes on weekly basis, and at the end of the mon

– Fayose accuses Buhari of deluding Nigerians over Chibok girls – He claims that the abduction was a mere political fabrication Ayo Fayose, the governor of Ekiti state, has claimed that the rumour of the abduction of the Chibok girls was mere political fabrication meant to oust ex-president Goodluck Jonathan from the office at all costs. Eleven lawmakers who are sympathetic to Governor Ayodele Fayose in the Ekiti State House of Assembly have said they can no longer sleep in their homes due to alleged persistent threats and intimidation by some policemen sent from police headquarters in Abuja. Many States Want To Replicate Religious Bill, They’ve Asked For Our Copy – El-ru

Those presently clamouring against the religious bill proposed by Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State may be in for a long drawn battle as the Governor has revealed that many state governments are ready to toe the same path and have asked for a copy of the bill to replicate in their states. El-Rufai, who made this disclosure yesterday while interacting with select journalists at the Sir Kashim Ibrahim Government House in Kaduna, said the proposed law was sent to the state House of Assembly since October 15, 2015 and was not a new bill as being speculated. He explained that: “It was first enacted in 1984 during the term of Air Vice Marshal Usman Mua’zu (retd) after the Maitsine uprising in 1982. The then military junta saw the need to regulate preaching in some states in the North. “Many states are ready to do similar thing now. They have asked for the copy of our bill. How I Trained My Dog To Walk Off The Leash.. Copied Post From Nairaland.

Hello everyone. A fellow petlover on nairaland recently asked me a question on how I was able to achieve walking my dogs off the leash. The question and my response were originally posted on another thread on this forum (Shadow The Destroyer), but by popular demand I was asked by a few other readers to open a separate thread and post it so that more people would be able to read it. Below is the response I gave to the question, copied and pasted here for everyone to see. I do hope you enjoy it and if possible learn from it. Hopefully I would make this worth everyone's while. I realize it is quite long, but I would like everyone to get some perspective on the problem to better appreciate the solution employed. (@uchpanila, the response to your question is even longer but still underway) Before I begin, please I would like to say again that all dogs should be on the leash at all times when out in public. No doubt some would want to try out what I am about to describe in hopes of ach

How Nigerian Government Imposed "Illegal" Electricity Tariff On Nigerians

The new increased electricity tariff rolled out on February 1 by the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission, NERC, was illegally imposed on consumers, an icirnigeria.org investigation has shown. The agency implemented the new tariff, which increased charges for electricity consumption by 55 per cent to 65 per cent, in defiance of the law setting it up. The federal government may be compelled to pay back to Nigerians the increased rate they have paid to electricity supply since February 1 when the new tariff regime took effect. Specifically, the announcement of the new tariffs breached Section 76 sub sections 6, 7 and 9 of the Electric Power Sector Reform Act of 2005. Section 76 (6) requires the NERC to gazette any review of existing tariff methodology before it comes into effect. The Act states: “Prior to approving a tariff methodology, the Commission shall give notice in the official Gazette, and in one or more newspapers with wide circulation, of the proposed establishment

I own a hospital in Southwest- (not Osun state Nigeria ...lol). I currently have about 17 patients on my ward each of whom I have admitted at several occasions through emergency. None of these patients has paid upto 30% of his/her bill. Some of them have stayed upto 7 weeks on the ward. I admitted and attended to them based on the fact that their conditions were life-threatening as at the time they came. I made their bill known to them - and they signed before they were treated. But there is a common trend, as soon as they felt relief and became stable they pleaded for their bills to be reduced - this I vehemently refused. About 4 weeks ago a woman was rushed in with Eclampsia having just convulsed while pregnant and she was unconscious. I promptly took her straight to the theatre without collecting a dime though i had informed the relatives of the charges - #120,000 for her operation and medications. They signed and I carried out the surgery succesfully. Mother and baby survived. Wit
