President should build special prisons for corrupt Nigerians – Balarabe

During the time of the former governor of Kaduna State, Alhaji Balarabe Musa, him and most of his colleagues lived a moderate lifestyle life due to the fact that corruption was minimal. In an interview with Vanguard newspaper he was asked how he felt about Governors and other people in politics who use their positions to amass wealth while in public office. The former Gov said: "I feel bad because these are resources that should be used to liberate the people and provide welfare and security for them. It is even more worrisome that in most places those in power have not provided even the basic things for their subjects while they swim in opulence and mindless extravagance, creating a big gap between them and those who elected them into office. That is directly responsible for the negative things the nation is grappling with today characterized by unemployment, poverty, insecurity and lose of confidence in public service. "That is why I strongly advise President Muhammadu B

A major crisis that may disrupt road transportation in Nigeria for a long period if not averted by the Presidency has broken out between commercial transporters in the country and the Federal Road Safety Commission, FRSC. The crisis of confidence between the two parties arises over the decision by the commission to introduce speed limit device technology on commercial vehicles with effect from September 1 this year. N35,000 for device, N1,000 for installation. It was learnt that the FRSC is working with a private Nigerian firm to enforce the controversial deal, which would require each vehicle owner to buy the device for N35,000 and pay additional N1,000 for installation. The transporters claim that with each of the 25 million vehicles in Nigeria paying N36,000 to the FRSC, it would rake in at least N900 billion from innocent Nigerians for a technology that would not add value to their lives. In a protest letter to the FRSC, the transporters warned the commission to desist from going

An NFL coach says he has never seen anything like what the Redskins did with Robert Griffin III in a preseason game

In a preseason game last week, Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III was repeatedly hit by Detroit Lions defendersuntil finally he had to leave the game with a concussion. Because preseason games are meaningless and Griffin's short NFL career has been marred by injury, many wondered why head coach Jay Gruden didn't pull his quarterback to keep him out of harm's way. Most starting quarterbacks play only a few possessions per game during preseason. If there's even the slightest possibility that a quarterback is hurt, coaches will usually put in a backup rather than let the starter play through it. And why wouldn't they? It's preseason! On Sunday, Marcus Mariota took one hit against the Rams, and the Titans pulled him instantly. So why didn't Gruden do the same? In a column on Bleacher Report, NFL reporter Mike Freeman shared comments from an anonymous NFL head coach who suggested Gruden's decision to keep Griffin in the game was "persona

Election Tribunal Dismisses Case against Kwankwaso

The state and National Assembly Election Petitions Tribunal sitting in Kano has dismissed the petition filed by Alhaji Bashir Garba Lado, challenging the victory of the immediate past governor of the state, Dr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, in the race for Kano Central senatorial district. Dismissing the petition in Kano yesterday, the presiding judge, Justice Cornelius Akintayo, said the petitioner failed to establish a prima facie evidence against the respondent hence the decision to dismiss the case for lack of merit. The judge held that the respondent was eminently qualified to contest for the seat of the Kano Central senatorial district. He added that petitioner’s petition challenging the substitution of the name of Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, the man who had initially purchased the nomination form, with that of Kwankwaso was untenable and lacked merit. Akintayo however, stated that the tribunal had found no incontrovertible evidence to declare the election null and void, saying it cons

'Ever since Prince Fahd bought the home nearly two months ago, he has had designers and contractors in and out of the place,' a source tells DailyMail.com. 'He is ripping it to shreds. Everyone is surprised because the place had a certain French look, it was very specific, and one would think the buyer would be into that. And now he doesn't want that.' The property, which is only a half block from Central Park and walking distance to The Plaza, will look completely differen
