In spite of the death sentence slammed on the General Overseer of the Christian Praying Assembly (CPA), Dr. Chukwuemeka Ezeugo (aka Rev. There was panic Monday morning at the Railway Post, Umuahia, Abia State when police officers attached to the post allegedly manhandled a man later identified as an Army captain for packing his 18-seater Mitsubishi bus close to the fence of the Police station. According to eye witness accounts, the Divisional Police officer in-charge of the police post was said to be driving into the station when he spotted the bus and ordered the owner to repack the bus claiming that it was blocking his way. No fewer than 25 children have been confirmed dead following an outbreak of the Febrile Rash Illnesses (FRI) in Otodo-Gbame community in Ikate, Lekki. At a news conference in Lagos today February 19th, the Lagos state commissioner for Health, Jide Idris, said though the source of the disease is still unknown, 34 cases of sick children with FRI is currently being treated while the graves of 20 children have been identified by their parents. “The graves of 20 children who died from the FRI since the day of onset of signs and symptoms in the first case on January 6 were identified by their parents. Also, 34 cases have been line listed so far with 17 males and 17 females; 17 dead patients have been identified with nine males and eight females, all are within the age range of eight and 72 months. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has recovered N381m from Mrs. Omolara Amosu, the wife of the immediate past Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Adesola Amosu. Sources within the EFCC said on Saturday that the money was recovered in three tranches: N180m, N101m and N100m. The detective told our correspondent that the money was traced from the account of the Nigeria Air Force to the bank accounts of a company in which Amosu’s wife is a director. He added that Amosu’s wife is a signatory to the accounts. He said, “We recovered N381m from Amosu’s wife, Omolara. Initially, we recovered N180m from her account before another N101m and then N100m. The Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN) has renewed its appeal to the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to remove some items from the foreign exchange restriction list. The President of MAN, Mr Frank Udemba, made the appeal in an interview on Friday in Abuja. Udemba said that some of the 41 items in the list were essential raw materials for many manufacturers across key sectors, and could not be presently sourced locally. The Independent Service Delivery Monitoring Group (ISDMG) has appealed to the Inspector-General of Police, Mr Solomon Arase, to intervene in an alleged case of brutality meted out to Mrs Adegbite Damilola by officers of Oyo State Police Command. Nicholas George Lehmeier, of Cold Springs, faces one felony count of second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon - a firearm - in connection to an incident in July last year, reported CBS Minnesota. The complaint against Legmeier was held by his wife Monday, who told police that she has been subjected to physical and verbal abuse for over ten years. Deputies were called to their home after reports of child abuse on February 8. In her statement the wife also recalled the incident last year, when Legmeier allegedly took a 12-gauge shotgun, loaded it and pointed it at her while breastfeeding their four-month-old son. She said she remembered him cocking the gun and pulling the trigger about three to four feet from her, but it didn’t go off, says CBS. She believed he was going to kill her but he then fired the gun out of a window.

Two days after completing a 30-year prison sentence for a 1984 murder conviction, a New Jersey man allegedly killed his 64-year-old mother. On Wednesday, Steven Pratt, 47, pleaded guilty to manslaughter, admitting his role in his mother's beating death, police say. A statement from prosecutors obtained by PEOPLE confirms Pratt, an Atlantic City resident who lived with his mother, repeatedly struck his mother Gwendolyn Pratt in the head the morning of Oct. 12, 2014. Police responded to the Pratt home that morning and found Gwendolyn's lifeless body inside. The statement says officers immediately took Pratt into custody and an autopsy later revealed the victim died from blunt force trauma to the head. Justice John Tsoho of the federal high court, Abuja, has ruled against the application of the federal government to mask its witnesses in the trial of Nnamdi Kanu‎, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and director of Radio Biafra. Tsoho held that masking the witnesses would shield their demeanour from the court.‎ “There is no gain saying that demeanour of witnesses is very crucial in a trial,” he said. He also held that sufficient particulars had not been provided by the prosecution to show that the witnesses were being threatened. ‎ Tsoho stated that the Department of State Services (DSS) had already disclosed the names of its witnesses and addresses, indicating that they reside in Lagos, Enugu and Port Harcourt, away from the locality of Kanu.‎ “It is not correct therefore to assert that many of the witnesses come from the accused persons location,” he said. The Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) is looking for about six lions on the loose from the Nairobi National Park. The lions are believed to have escaped to Lang’ata, which is adjacent to the park today. KWS Corporate Communications Officer Paul Udoto said they were not certain of the number of the lions. "The lions were part of the wild population and we are depending on the public to report if they sight them," he said. The wildlife service has advised any person who spots the lions to call KWS. Mr Udoto said the KWS was aware that a lioness had cubbed on the border of Lang'ata Barracks and the park and was monitoring the situation. "However, this morning we were called at 4am and told that some two lionesses, we believe, including the new mother, had been seen on the road near Lang'ata Hospital. We responded immediately.
