Buhari’s presidency a misadventure for Nigerians, he remains a dictator – Fayose

Governor Fayose, who said he was not disappointed by the President’s response during his media chat, to question on the disobedient of court orders by the Department of State Security (DSS), added that he had said it several times that once a dictator will always be a dictator and that those who helped him to power will end up in his gaol of dictatorship. In a statement signed by his Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka, the governor said he was aware of plot to muzzle him and others considered as non-conformists because of their opinion and critical stance on the President and his government, adding that; “such plot will definitely be counterproductive.” He described the way and manner the former National Security Adviser, Col. Sambo Dasuki (rtd) was being treated by the federal government as the hallmark of a dictator. “I said it earlier that Buhari is a dictator and I warned several times that those that were promoting this lion will end up in it

Rwandan pastor sentenced to life imprisonment for genocide crimes

A Rwandan pastor accused of leading and coordinating attacks on minority Tutsis during Rwanda's 1994 genocide has been jailed for life, Rwanda's high court said on Wednesday, December 30. Read President Buhari's New year message to Nigerians

Read below... Welcome to the beginning of a New Year of the continuation of CHANGE in our beloved nation. I am aware that Nigerians have experienced a number of significant hardships over the past months. Living in the State House has not alienated me from your daily sufferings. I am aware of the lengthy queues at fuel stations and of the difficulties businesses have faced in acquiring foreign exchange. These challenges are only temporary; we are working to make things better. When I presented myself to you as a presidential candidate and asked you to vote for me, I wanted to be a leader who keeps his promises. I wanted to be a leader who restores the people's hope in those elected to serve them. I wanted to be a leader who initiates positive and enduring CHANGE. I am still totally committed to being that kind of leader. Unforeseen circumstances and other distractions notwithstanding, I shall still do my utmost best to keep every promise I made to Nigerians during my election ca

See How Much The Presidency Is Going To Spend On Feeding In 2016

Contrary to reports in some quarters that the President Muhammadu Buhari-led Federal Government earmarked the sum of N1.7 billion for feeding in the Presidential Villa, a copy of the relevant section of the 2016 Appropriation Bill obtained by The Herald showed that only about N114.97 million was earmarked. Recall that rumour had pervaded the media space, especially the social media, that Buhari planned to surpass the amount spent by the Goodluck Jonathan’s administration as many as four times. A comparative analysis of the last administration’s total expenditure on “feeding” which included items like Food Stuff / Catering Materials Supplies, Cooking Gas/Fuel Cost, Refreshment & Meals, and Purchase Of canteen / Kitchen Equipment, in the last two years showed it allocated more funds than the new administration. While the 2014 figure showed N542.86 million and the 2015 N526.17 million under former President Jonathan, the 2016 under Buhari is slightly lower, at N445.49 million.

Ortom Appreciates Youth Carnival But Did Not Approve Any For 2015

The Governor of Benue State, Samuel Ortom, appreciates the annual youth carnival which engages hundreds of youths that showcase their talents and the rich cultural endowments of the state. He acknowledges that the creative and entertainment industry remains a veritable platform to engage youths and others to develop their talents and explore opportunities in the sector. His administration created a Ministry of Arts, Culture and Tourism to warehouse, anchor and drive activities in the sector. However, the financial and other challenges on ground currently made it impracticable for the Governor to approve the state government's direct involvement in sponsorship of a youth carnival in 2015. A private sector initiative took up the responsibility without any financial commitment from the state government. It made commitments and organized rehearsals for the Carnival Procession scheduled for 29th December, 2015. When it was brought to the attention of the organizers that the Northe

Kylie Jenner has opened up on her insecurities over her lips before the lip fillers. In the February 2016 issue of ELLE, she said "I was so insecure about my lips. Even now I always post photos where my finger is always in front of my mouth… it’s a habit: I would always cover my lips. I couldn’t even talk to people. Or guys. Like, [I’d be thinking]: 'I know you’re looking at my lips, but you so don’t want to kiss me right now'. Kylie also keeps Justin Bieber close to her heart. She said "I’m so close to him [Justin] because I feel like he’s been through exactly what I’ve been through in a completely different way but very similar," she told the mag. Biafra: Nnamdi Kanu Apologises To Buhari, Jonathan

Following his continued incarceration, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra and founder of Radio Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, has expressed regret for referring to President Muhammadu Buhari as a terrorist, evil and a paedophile in his radio broadcasts. Kanu, who has been charged along with two others by the Federal Government before a Federal High Court in Abuja on six counts of treason and other ancillary offences, said he intended to write a private letter to Buhari to express his apology to the President,Punch reports. He also apologised to former President Goodluck Jonathan and Igbo elders for “some uncomplimentary things” he said about them. Be A Responsible Statesman And Leave Gabriel Suswam Alone - Gabriel Torwua Suswam’s Media Team Replies Akume

Akume, Be a Responsible Statesman and Leave Gabriel Suswam Alone We read with utmost disappointment a report titled, ‘Akume lashes at Suswam’ carried on page 54 of Monday, 28th December, 2015 edition of The Nation newspapers. Indeed, we are disappointed but not surprised for it is now common knowledge that it has become a tradition with a carefully composed anthem for Akume and his followers to run down the name of Gabriel Suswam at any function; be it as infinitesimal as naming ceremonies. As such, we would have, as usual, ignored his typical ranting especially as the report indicated the ‘lash’ was done during a ‘Christmas party’, where it is obvious enough booze, including Gulder could never have been absent. Yet, we still feel there is need to put records straight if not for anything, at least to enlighten the unsuspecting member of the general public. 1. Except for Sen. Akume and his likes nursing grudges against the person of Gabriel Suswam in perpetuity, any discerning mind w

He said: “Following a petition received alleging the fraudulent activities of Idris, the command’s Anti-kidnapping Squad swung into action and arrested the suspect, who until his arrest had fraudulently obtained various sums of money from his victims.” Oyebade added that the suspect promised his last victim, Mustapha, that he would help him to get a certificate for oil importation in 2012, but up till now that hasn't been done. He failed to complete the deal after the money was paid into his account. Islamic State suffers double blow as Ramadi falls, leaders killed

U.S.-led forces have killed 10 Islamic State leaders in air strikes, including individuals linked to the Paris attacks, a U.S. spokesman said, dealing a double blow to the militant group after Iraqi forces ousted it from the city of Ramadi. Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi planted the national flag in Ramadi after the army retook the city center from Islamic State, a victory that could help vindicate his strategy for rebuilding the military after stunning defeats. "Over the past month, we've killed 10 ISIL leadership figures with targeted air strikes, including several external attack planners, some of whom are linked to the Paris attacks," said U.S. Army Colonel Steve Warren, a spokesman for the U.S.-led campaign against the Islamist group also known by the acronym ISIL. "Others had designs on further attacking the West." One of those killed was Abdul Qader Hakim, who facilitated the militants' external operations and had links to the Paris attack n

Stop Giving Oxygen To Boko Haram Insurgency - Lai Mohammed Appeals To Journalists

Minister of Information, Lai Mohammed has appealed to Nigerian media to stop giving oxygen to Boko Haram by glamorizing their activities. He said this while speaking as a guest on Channels TV. “Just as I said in my meeting with the newspapers editors in Lagos on the 21st of December, the military has largely met the deadline to defeat Boko Haram, and the military has matched the capacity of terrorists to carry out the attacks they used to. Of course, I also mentioned that the terrorists will continue to attack such targets as markets, motor parks, entertainment centers and houses of worship; and this is exactly what is going on. We know that in an insurgency, the war does not end in one day. The attack on soft targets will continue, but we also want to appeal to the media to stop giving oxygen to the Boko Haram insurgency. When we glamorize the attacks, it gives the terrorists more life and in a time of insurgency like this, the media also has a role to play, which is not to glamoriz

Radio Biafra Transmitters Installed on MTN Masts - Federal Government

The Federal Government has said the transmitters for Radio Biafra, which has been accused of spreading secessionist agenda and campaigning for the carving out of a Biafra Republic from Nigeria, were found to be installed on MTN masts in Enugu and Anambra states. According to the Federal Government, the installation of the transmitters on the telecommunications company’s masts was to ensure wider coverage for the radio. The headquarters of the radio station is “presumably in London.” This is contained in the government’s case summary of the fresh six counts of treason and other ancillary offences instituted against the founder of Radio Biafra and leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, and two others, before the Federal High Court in Abuja. One of the two other defendants in the six counts filed by the Federal Government is a field maintenance engineer, David Nwawuisi, charged with the responsibility of maintaining the MTN masts in Enugu State. FFK writes open letter to Buhari 3

What happened to the honest and forthright man that we all admired and looked up to because of his military exploits in Chad? What happened to the war hero that gave the Chadians a ''bloody nose'' for daring to attack a Nigerian village and that almost took Ndjamena, the Chadian capital? What happened to the man that proved to the Libyans and their Chadian proxies that Nigerians knew how to fight? It appears that you have changed and that you are no longer the man that you used to be. Instead of being honest with our people you have insisted on selling them a dummy and telling them a lie. You refuse to tell the world that our military is terribly demoralized, our soldiers are suffering heavy casualties and are not being paid their salaries regularly and, worse of all, that you have failed to procure a single bullet or weapon for them to use in the last seven months since you came to power. Instead of deploying all the power of the state against Boko Haram you have s

FFK writes open letter to Buhari 2

Yet sadly since you were sworn in as President seven months ago you have lost some of those same local government areas that were earlier recovered and they are now back in the hands of the terrorists. Despite this you keep telling the international community and the Nigerian people that we are ''making progress'' in the war against terror. As a matter of fact you went as far as to say that we had ''won the war'' against Boko Haram and your Minister of Information, Mr. Lai Mohammed, echoed that grotesque mendacity and reiterated that sentiment by adding the words ''technically won'' (whatever that may mean) to the equation. Sadly, two days later, on Christmas day, in what can only be described as an eloquent response from the terrorists, scores of innocent civilians were killed by Boko Haram in Borno state and a whole community was burnt to the ground. Again on Sunday 27th of December Maiduguri, the capital of Borno state, came under h

FFK writes open letter to Buhari

Former Aviation Minister Femi Olu-Kayode shared the letter on his Facebook page this afternoon. Read below Mr. President, as one of your most loyal and faithful subjects who has nothing but the utmost respect for your person and your office, I am constrained to write you this open letter. This is because there are a number of issues that I believe that it is important for you to clarify and to come clean on. I say this because some of your assertions of late are at best contradictory and at worst patently dishonest. Whichever side of the political divide we are on I believe that we can all agree on one thing: that the prosecution of the war against terror is not something that any of us should play politics with. This is especially so given the fact that human lives are at stake and the very existence of our nation is under threat. Like much of the rest of the world our country is going through hell at the hands of the jihadists and Islamist terrorists. There is no gainsaying that

Ogun State Police Command intercepts tanker with stolen fuel, one suspect arrested

The Ogun State Police Command says its operatives attached to Sagamu Division intercepted a truck loaded with vandalised Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) in Sagamu area of the state on December 27, Channelstv reports. A press statement by the spokesman for the command, Muyiwa Adejobi, said the Police operatives acted on a tip-off which led to the arrest of one of the vandals named Elochukwu Byron. However, other suspects escaped. According to Mr. Adejobi, the suspect and the exhibits would be transferred to the Department of Criminal Investigation and Intelligence, in Eleweran Abeokuta, for further investigation on the directive of the Commissioner of Police, Ogun State, Abdulmajid Ali. Mr Ali has also put all officers and men of the command on their toes to make sure that pipelines and installations are adequately protected, particularly during a period of fuel crisis like the one being witnessed across Nigeria. The Commissioner warned that many of the hoodlums would want to seize the o

Boko Haram bomb experts arrested in Kaduna

Press statement from the Nigerian Army Another catastrophe was averted in Kaduna State and other contiguous areas when troops of the Nigerian Army arrested 7 suspected Boko Haram terrorists bomb and Improvised Explosive making Devices (IEDs) specialists. The terrorists were arrested in Kaduna after painstaking surveillance and proactive intelligence operations over a period of time. From all indications, the suspects were in Kaduna to conduct suicide bombings, kill and maim innocent citizens in the state and other surrounding areas during the Christmas period. Recall that recently in Maiduguri some of them were arrested while trying to detonate IEDs carried in food containers in public places. The arrest of these suspects would no doubt assist in the fight against terrorism in the country, more so as the military have technically defeated the Boko Haram terrorists in the field, the terrorists have resorted to attacking soft targets through suicide bombings, IEDs and harassing attack

ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi threatens the West in new spine-chilling message

In his first message to the public in the last 7 months, ISIS Leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi has warned Western countries and Israel to expect imminent attacks and also warned “crusaders” not to dare fight on his turf. According to CNN, Israeli Military officials are not taking the video too seriously because they believe ISIS doesn't have much of a stronghold in the country plus the exact date of the video shoot is unclear. al-Baghdadi called on Saudi citizens to 'rise up against the apostate tyrants, and avenge their people in Syria, Iraq, and Yemen'. ''Jews ,soon you shall hear from us in Palestine, which will become your grave. The Jews thought we forgot Palestine and that they had distracted us from it,Not at allJews. We did not forget Palestine for a moment, with the help of Allah we will not forget it,The pioneers of the jihadist fighters will surround you on a day that you think is distant and we know is close. The Conference of Islamic Organisations (CIO) has alleged that some aides of former President Goodluck Jonathan approached the body with $3 million so as to canvass for their votes during the presidential election. According to Leadership, Coordinator of CIO, Imam Abdullahi Shuaib, made this claim during the 22nd National Islamic Training Programme (NITP), holding at Odosengolu, Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State. He said they rejected the government’s offer tagged: “religious fund”, meant to secure support of Muslims in Nigeria for the ex-president and his party-PDP, during the general elections early this year. “It is not a secret, they came, offering us over three million dollars, we said no….It came through their proxies to us and we said no. And today we have been vindicated and it is not even part of our own culture to take bribe. We prefer to go hungry than to collect a bribe from somebody, that is unlawful.” He said that some officials of the Jonathan-led administration (whose identities

Buhari's Govenment Spending Money Like A Drunken Sailor - Fani Kayode

Former Aviation minister, Fani Kayode has lambasted the Buhari led government for continuously blaming former president,Jonathan for it's present woes..In a statement ,he accused the APC government of spending money like a drunken sailor. He said “The 2016 budget is fueled by insincerity, shrouded in fantasy, built on tall dreams and spawned by deceit, ignorance and the illusion of change. It is bloated, unrealistic, expensive, cosmetic and it will not result in anything good. “In order to fund part of the budget the government intends to borrow money and this will throw our country into even greater debt. What a tragedy this is given the fact that in 2007 Nigeria was debt-free. The Buhari administration is spending money like a drunken sailor and they are borrowing as if there is no tomorrow, mortgaging the future of our nation and our children.'' ” We need far more fiscal discipline and seriousness than that if our government really wishes to improve the economy and b

Why History Should Be Taught By Reuben Abati

There is never a scarcity of shocking events, revelations, encounters and experiences in the course of the interesting times we seem destined to live in. But nothing can perhaps be more shocking than a recent encounter I had with a young man. He had remarked quite innocently to my hearing that he wondered what all the noise was all about over the late Chief M.K.O. Abiola. “Who is he?”, he asked. I almost passed out. “Who is Chief M.K.O. Abiola? How old are you? When were you born?”, I retorted, trying to figure out whether it is indeed possible for anyone in this country not to know who MKO Abiola is. I followed up with another question. “You mean you don’t know who MKO is?” “Why should I know him? Does he know me?” By now, I was sweating. It turned out that the young man was born in 1995, two years after the 1993 Presidential election, and he was still a toddler by the time of the return to civilian rule in 1999. Now 20 years old, and a university graduate, he has grown up inside

Waiter Returns $32k (N6.3million) Lost Cash To Family

A family’s holiday season went from despair to joy last Thursday after $32,000 in cash they had lost was returned by a good Samaritan. The money was lost Wednesday afternoon after Erika Gonzalez, her mother and her son Damien went to a bank to place the money, which came from a restaurant her father owns in San Jose and proceeds from rental houses. They were told that there were no safe-deposit boxes available for the cash, so they ran some errands and then went to the Applebee’s. Later in the evening, they learned the money was missing. They believed it had been left behind at the bank, but when they called, they were told by bank officials that no money had been found. Panic followed. “Our hearts dropped,” said Erika of the moment that she and her mother, Berta Gonzalez, realized the money they intended to put in a bank had been left behind somewhere. It turned out the cash had been dropped at an Applebee’s restaurant at Cedar and Herndon avenues in Fresno, where they had stopp
