Betrayal And The Limits Of Loyalty

By Frederick Obande “The concept of loyalty is a strange one. The real answer is that may our loyalties never be tested. I always pray that may my loyalty never be tested.” Babatunde Raji Fashola October 14, 2015 The concept of loyalty is indeed a strange one. Unfolding scenarios and expectations in Nigeria prove this adequately. Those who dare speak of loyalty or lack of it must have either never been in the unpleasant condition of having the concept tested in their lives or they are simply beyond being capable of grasping what it entails in the first place. Examples abound in our recent political history. There was the Ibrahim Babangida and Mamman Vatsa episode, then Babangida and David Mark (of the IBB Boys fame). Recall that when David Mark was edged out of the power game by Babangida, he retorted in his interview when asked by Dan Agbese if he was an IBB boy "I am not IBB'S Boy! We are friends and that is if we are still friends." Later, former President Olusegu...

Blame Past Administration For The Poor State Of The Economy - APC

The All Progressives Congress (APC) acting spokesperson Timi Frank has asked Nigerians to blame the past administration of Goodluck Jonathan for the poor state of the nation's economy and the increasing fall of the Naira. He made the party's position known in an interview with Vanguard. “Personally, I am worried about the current situation of the economy but again I am letting you know it is not our fault because this is what we met. We met a bastardised system. We took over from a government that destroyed our economy. The PDP government embezzled the wealth of our nation. So our economy is something we are fighting to survive. And I can assure you that our government is taking every necessary step to make sure we revive our economy and that everything will come to stay. Clearly, I can tell you that this is why the President is moving round to make sure our economy stands again. The current situation of our country today, I am asking Nigerians not to blame President Buhari...

El Chapo Won't Get A Fair Trial In US Because Of Donald Trump - El Chapo's Lawyers

El Chapo's lawyers are fighting the drug baron's extradition to America on murder and drug charges on the grounds that he won't get a fair hearing because of Donald Trump. Attorneys for the former kingpin of the Sinaloa Cartel are using Trump's comments about Mexican immigrants being 'rapists and murderers' as evidence that any trial in the U.S. will be biased. Mexican and U.S. officials want to have El Chapo, whose real name is Joaquin Guzman Loera, tried and imprisoned in America because of his track record of escaping from Mexican prisons.Guzman, who made billions of dollars smuggling drugs from the east of Mexico into America, was first captured by authorities in 1993 when he was sentenced to 20 years behind bars. However, he was free again in 2001 after bribing prison guards with a reported $2.5million to turn a blind eye as he was wheeled out of jail in a laundry basket. It took authorities 13 years to relocate Guzman, who narrowly avoided capture severa...

They are doing this in connivance with the EFCC lawyer, who is also a member of your party, who is in the forefront of prosecuting me because I...
